Holiday Gift Guide 2016: Smart Self Care for Busy Professional Women

Finding the perfect gift can be a challenge…especially when you’re busy! I had a great response to my 2015 holiday gift guide so figured I’d create a new one for you for 2016!

This year, I decided to share the items that I love and use myself on a regular basis.  Self care has been essential for my survival this year (Yours too?) and it’s the small actions we take every day that can make a big difference in the long run.

Why not give the gift of self care to someone you love? (and buy an extra for yourself while you’re at it!)

My favorite self care gifts this year:

1.  Novels. Getting lost in a page-turner can be a welcome brain break from everyday responsibilities. While I’m usually a big fan of self care books, this year I’ve spent a lot of time reading fiction. Three of my favorites this year were Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff, Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and The Girl You Left Behind by JoJo Moyes.

2.  Botanical perfume. Smell is one of those senses we don’t pay enough attention to! While you may already be using essential oils, have you ever had a custom blend made to wear as perfume? I’ve been wearing Shelley Henry’s “Dragonfly” essence and I adore it.

3.  Mala beads. I had a dream about visiting a friend who had mala beads on his personal altar and the next day, I saw an ad for a turquoise set and knew I had to own them!  I struggle with settling into meditation and using my gorgeous beads allows me to focus on my chosen mantra (often one word like “love” or “peace”) and achieve a deeper rest during my quiet time. (They also make pretty necklaces and I wear mine while I’m working at my computer. It makes me feel connected to my deeper wisdom and truth.)

4.  Soap. It’s something we use every day but it feels just a wee bit luxurious to use a bar that not only gets you clean but makes you feel good while you’re doing it! Two of my favorites are Whole Foods’ Good soap and Ten Thousand Villages lavender soap.

5.  Chocolate. But of course! One of my favorites is Divine Chocolate because I pretend I’m a goddess when I’m eating it!

In case you also enjoy looking through several holiday gift guides for inspiration and ideas, here are a few that I’ve had fun perusing this week:

Wellness Stock Shop’s Soulful Living Gift Guide

Here’s to smooth and easy holiday gift shopping!

P.S. And if you’re a woman entrepreneur in Houston, you may want to take a peek at two one-day retreats that I have coming up on December 9th and January 6th. A great gift for yourself and your business (or a friend and her business!) to help set you up for success in 2017!
